In the Begining

So here it goes...how I got here. My DH (dear husband) and I got married on March 1, 2009.  January of 2010 we decided given our ages (35 and 30) it was time to TTC (try to conceive). However a short 4 months later we discovered that the DH had testicular cancer. He had his testicle removed. It happened so fast. We quickly banked some sperm, $2500 later, for five years, and scheduled his chemo treatments. To our much happiness we discovered we were pregnant the morning of DH's appointment with the oncologist as Sloan Kettiring. Unfortunately we lost the baby 6 hours later. What a blow. So with a heavy heart we started chemo treatments. Last Wednesday with met with the RE (reproductive endocrinologist) to see what our options were. I was a little surprised when he said IVF. I think I knew intellectually that would be the way to go, but now I find myself mourning the loss of a desired home water-birth for my baby. The lesson we learned that day was if you have to bank sperm make sure you bank it at a reproductive endocrinologist. We now have to pay extra to transport the little guys for IVF! Blood work tomorrow at 6am yay!
